An eBay for the Nutraceuticals Industry

This could be the biggest thing since antioxidants. And no matter where you fit in the nutraceuticals industry, there’s a place for you to get involved.

Paul DeLalla recently launched the eBay for natural products, at www.NutraNutra.com. Let’s look at what this means for your company and your future. This is far more than just a chance to buy and sell your stuff online.

“This industry is antiquated when it comes to working online,” said NutraNutra founder Paul DeLalla when I spoke with him at the SupplyExpo West in Anaheim last month.

The current, outdated model is to hit the trade shows, directories, and phones to try to find the best buyers and vendors for your company. NutraNutra could become a centralized marketplace for nutraceuticals, and it’s better than eBay in many ways.

A trade show every month for $30 or less

You can post an item for auction at no cost until October 2008; after that it will cost a one-time fee between $2 to $30. And you’ll get a lot of mileage out of your thirty bucks.

“We’re already getting 200 unique visits a day,” said Paul. “That’s exposure to six thousand people a month. ”

Keep in mind that I spoke with him several weeks ago, and hordes of new users have joined the site since then. The way I look at it, this is like exhibiting at a trade show every four weeks. But only if you use NutraNutra as a tool to generate awareness for your company.

You see, every time you post an item on NutraNutra, you’ll acquire the contact information of the person who buys, along with anyone who asks you questions before the bidding is over. This alone is a great way to build a list of good prospects, and you can market to them later.

But the real prize is that NutraNutra lets you promote your company at little or no cost. When you auction an item on NutraNutra, you get to post your company logo, links to your website, photos and contact information.

NutraNutra also supports YouTube videos, and this gives you a golden opportunity to post a short advertisement for your company as well as for the items you’re selling. It took me less than an hour to throw together a video, using free software.

You also get to surf the waves made by NutraNutra’s advertising and search engine optimization dollars. For example, if you Google some of the items already being auctioned, you’ll find some of these auctions on the first page of the search results. You might attract interested buyers who aren’t even participating in NutraNutra.

Not bad for a free ride, and as the site grows, so will the benefits you get.

The number of registered users has tripled since mid-March, and Paul DeLalla expects to have over a thousand registered users before the end of the year.

I’ve put together a white paper on strategies that can boost your company’s recognition and drive more sales using NutraNutra.com. But you can only get it by participating in the auction. Here’s the link.
